The US presidential election is now less than 48 hours away and the gap between the two candidates are closing. But the divide between government and the First Nations peoples is still a concern and their issues are very similar to Māori.

Māori Party president Tukoroirangi Morgan has confirmed that he and the party has the absolute support of the Kīngitanga movement in order to win the Hauraki-Waikato seat.

The Māori All Blacks kicked off their northern hemisphere tour crushing the USA Eagles in Chicago on Saturday. However Coach Colin Cooper says despite the few training sessions they had it’s all about sticking to their structure and game plans in order to bring home the next two wins.

A peaceful protest against planned housing development in Auckland is underway. Uri and supporters of Ihumātao, a small Māori settlement in Auckland, have erected a tent town on their land. The group says they want to discourage the purchase of the land for a housing development as it’s whenua tapu and of great significance to the local iwi.

The Green Party is claiming that children who are falling ill with rheumatic fever are due to the government's failure to address the housing crisis and child poverty. Figures released today show that children with rheumatic fever in the Auckland and Waitematā DHB areas has stayed at the same level despite prevention campaigns over the past five years.
