Kim Hill introduces Mike Leigh and the film, Secrets and Lies.

Leigh discusses film scripts, Hollywood, workshopping the scripts and the thematic structure of his films. Discusses the character Hortense being black and the character Maurice, played by Timothy Spall. Leigh discusses his background, goes on to talk about his films and the childless women which feature in them. Hill asks about Leigh’s response to the critics’ assumption that he is mocking English society. Talks about his work in progress (subsequently named Career Girls).
