Mapped and named the Bay of Plenty by Captain Cook over 200 years ago Tauranga is one of the most prosperous areas in the country. A ‘place in the sun’, with vineyards, trees and farmland in the shelter of the Kaimai Ranges.

The travelogue extolls the magnificence of this scenic region and its rich history. The Maketu Centennial Memorial marks the landing place of the Arawa canoe in 1340 AD. Other memorials and historic buildings are featured.

Brief aerial shots show the citrus growing areas and the processing plant for citrus fruit.

The beaches of Mauao Mount Maunganui attract hundreds of visitors during the summer holidays. Fishing, yachting and beautiful bays are just a few of the wonderful attractions of the region.
