The State Placement Service, part of Department of Labour was set up to cope with unemployment. Hon. H.T. Armstrong - Minister of Labour, Mr J.S. Hunter - Secretary of Labour and Mr A.J. Ridler - Director of State Placement Service talk about the effciency of the Service and appeal to the public for co-operation. Shows examples of the good works of the scheme with men in employment in a range of industries: the Wellington Railway Station being built, harvesting of wheat, forestry workers, agricultural workers, waterfront workers and the Ford car assembly plant. The Mayor of Wellington, Mr T.C.A. Hislop, appeals to the public to buy New Zealand made goods and create employment.
