NZ Govt. Publicity produced several films of Duke & Duchess of York's visit - see Tin Shed, 1927 listing. This is the first part - their arrival & reception at Auckland. Duke and Duchess of York were later King George VI & Queen Elizabeth.

'Auckland prepares for her Royal Guests'. W.S. Decorated building (?Customhouse).

'A fine body of New Zealanders...the police bodyguard of colonial giants is finally inspected by Commissioner McIlveney'. Pan along police line, inspection.

'In the grey of the dawn... H.M.S. 'Renown' steaming up Hauraki Gulf'. E.L.S. Battleship. Pan across length of ship.

'According to ancient custom...His Excellency the Governor General Pays an official call'. (Charles Fergusson). L.S. G.G. boarding ship from boat, other officials. L.S. Scenes of officials moving around ship. G.G. on quay, saluting.

'To the thunder of the guns...and a hundred thousand cheers...H.R.H. steps ashore at Auckland'. M.S. H.R.H. on quay, inspects, some shots of Duchess, other officials. Parade, including cars, crowds held back by police, banners overhead.

'The guest of the City Fathers...Inspecting the guard of honour at the Town Hall'. M.S. - M.C.U. T.R.H's & guards.

'Receiving the many addresses of welcome'. M.S. Seated guests & officials.

'The playing fields of Old English find a counterpart in the Brighter Britain of the Sunny South'. Pan across mass P.T. display.

'The Homage of His people...'when the vast arena was rent with cheers'. M.C.U. T.R.H's hop into car, set off, waving to children.
