000:23 NEW ZEALAND BLUEBLOODS: Old catalogues document the first national sale of New Zealand yearling thoroughbreds in 1927. Since then the sales have been held every year at Trentham, and have attracted buyers from all around the world. The legendary Phar Lap was one of the greats sold in the ring at Trentham. Horses are lead around for inspection by prospective buyers.
A tour of New Zealand stud farms includes: the Santa Rosa Stud at Longburn, the Inglewood Stud in Kaiapoi and Altham Lodge which was recently visited by the Queen.
Rising Fast, winner of the 1954 Melbourne Cup, returns to his home paddocks at Takanini. He is greeted by trainer Mr Tucker, and Mrs Tucker.
