The day before the big race at Ardmore, mechanics are busy preparing the cars. A visiting Maserati expert inspects a home made Christchurch car. Stirling Moss parades in open car at an Auckland Jamboree and crowds jam a city store to meet Stirling and his wife who sign autographs.

A fizzy -drink truck is unloaded for the record 85,000 spectators.
Auckland Mayor, Mr Buttle, meets some of the drivers and the Minister of Transport Mr Matheson wishes them luck.

The pit crew check the cars and the race is off. Drivers include: Ron Flockhard of Scotland, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren, Ross Jensen, Carroll Shelby, Tom Clarke.

Stirling Moss comes home first, 2nd is Brabham and 3rd is Bruce McLaren, all driving British Cooper T45s.
