In 1924-25 T.W Rātana and members of the Rātana Church conducted a World Tour. This tour encompassed the British Empire, Europe, Asia and the Americas. Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana wished to present Māori grievances over the Treaty of Waitangi to an international audience and have them recognised within the framework of International Law.

This silent black and white film documents the group in San Francisco during the American leg of the World Tour which took place in 1925 and included Canada, the United States of America and Mexico.
