FLYING VISITS: The Prime Minister of Thailand arrives in Wellington for talks with Government. He is met by Mr Holyoake, the Minister of Defence and others. Thailand is the most prosperous of our South East Asian neighbours, but New Zealand has a particular interest in Vietnam. Before his official rounds, the Thai Prime Minister has a press conference and meets with Thai Colombo Plan students.
Mr Hubert Humphry, Vice President of the United States, arrives in New Zealand 48 hours later amidst demonstrations. He visits cabinet and also attends a press conference, before leaving with his wife.

EVERYMAN’S HOME: Mr Reed of Birkdale developed a great love for castles during a tour of the old country and returned to New Zealand determined to build one. He began construction using his own building skills and working with Waikato stone. After seven years, his castle is still far from completed.

400 ft IHC: Children collected by the IHC school bus are taken to the new Day Care Centre in Northcote, Auckland. Trained staff supervise their daily activities. The centre is supported partly by public subscription and partly by a Government subsidy. The IHC has 26 branches throughout the country, several of which have hostel accommodation. Training centres and sheltered workshops are available for the older age group. At Christopher Park just out of Hamilton, a 36 bed hostel and workshop, provides for up to 80 people.
