Documentary series exploring the unique diversity of New Zealand's natural history. The pukeko have made their home in the Western Springs Wetlands, a reserve in west Auckland. The birds are native swamp hens and members of the water hen family, but unlike their relations, they’re communal in their behaviour. This programme looks closely at their breeding and nesting habits and shows chicks adapting to life. Birds living around the pukeko are also captured.
