A scientist studies the life cycle and eating habits of the cassowary in its habitat, the remaining tropical rain forests of Northern Queensland . This large flightless bird, a relation of the kiwi and moa, is vital in the dispersal and regeneration of large-fruited tropical tree species. The cassowary’s future is being threatened by the continuing fragmentation of its forest habitat and by fast flowing traffic through its domains.
