Ngā Pao mē ngā Pakiwaitara a te iwi Māori - Song and Story of the Māori.

Ulric Williams presents a programme featuring an interview recorded several years earlier with Rēweti Kōhere, a leading chief of Ngāti Porou, about Māori music. He was introduced to Mr Rēweti by Mr Jock McEwen of the Māori Affairs Department.

Shortly after the interview was recorded, Rēweti Kōhere passed away in August of 1954. He was the mokopuna of Mōkena Kōhere, educated at Te Aute College and Canterbury University College and was a member of the Māori Youth Movement.

He was also a minister in the Anglican Church and a composer of Māori waiata.

kaikōrero: Rēweti Kōhere [This is an excerpt from the 1952 interview found on ID182507] He discusses different waiata and how they were used.
