Former prisoner-of-war camp guard Ken Martin is interviewed about a Shinto religious ceremony to bring peace to the souls of dead Japanese POWs, held near the site of New Zealand's only World War II POW camp.

He recalls the riot in which 49 prisoners and one guard were killed in February 1943.
