On 17 September 1971 six women - Hazel Armstrong, Donna Awatere, Toni Church, Beth O’Leary, Connie Purdue, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku - participated in the Auckland Centennial Parade. Protesting the lack of progress towards equality for women the marchers carried a coffin and ended the “funeral procession” at the statue of Queen Victoria in Albert Park.

Fourteen years on, in 1985, the six women were interviewed and share their views on progress (or the lack of) in the intervening years.

This screening celebrates 125 years of Women’s Suffrage in Aotearoa.
