“Feeling sleepy? Like you could drop off at anytime, anywhere? Thankfully for most of us we can control when we go to sleep but unfortunately narcolepsy sufferers often have no choice and can fall asleep at any time without warning. 3’s Inside New Zealand documentary, Sleep Attack, tells the compelling stories of three New Zealanders living with narcolepsy, spending their days fighting the urge not to go to sleep.
Narcolepsy is a serious medical disorder involving a malfunction of the part of the brain that controls awake and sleep time. The main symptom of narcolepsy is an overwhelming feeling of fatigue and sleepiness. A narcoleptic can have a sleep attack at any time but it is often brought on when sitting in a quiet environment or doing a monotonous activity.” TV3; http://www.tv3.co.nz/; 03/05/2005
