“Tonight’s contributor on Fourth Estate is Dr Brian Edwards. Born in Ireland, Brian entered television in 1967 on the regional news programme in Christchurch before joining the Gallery current affairs team in 1969. He now works as a writer and media consultant.”

Critics he mentions include: Lois Davey; Sue Miles; Mervyn Glue. Edwards says there are some good critics: Colleen Reilly; A.K. Grant; David Hill. On the whole, Edwards finds television criticism uninformed, pedestrian and dull.
