Local Body Election Results: John Banks has won the mantle of Mayor of Auckland back from Dick Hubbard in local body elections. Pamela Peters was defeated in the Whangarei District by former Mayor Stan Semenoff; George Wood has been defeated on the North Shore by Andrew Williams; Len Brown has won the vacant Manukau City Mayoralty; Bob Harvey retains the mayoralty of Waitakere City, and Bob Simcock continues as Mayor of Hamilton; Wayne Brown is the new Mayor of Far North District from Yvonne Sharp. Stuart Crosby retains his Tauranga City Mayoralty, as does New Plymouth District's Peter Tennent; Barbara Arnott has won a third term in Napier City; and Wayne Guppy has won a third term in Upper Hutt. In Wellington, the Single Transferable Vote system is slowing down the results. Plus former TVNZ Present Bob Parker has won the mayoralty of Christchurch.
