What is a Pākehā? A recent conference in Wellington gathered to examine what it means to be a Pakeha. By definition a Pākehā is a white New Zealander who accepts the Māori generated label of being Pākehā and accepts that Māori are Tangata Whenua. One of the main sticky and sticking points is European New Zealanders claiming the status of being native.
