Narrated by Mohammad Hussain Fayyaz, this documentary follows the story of a group of Afghan refugees, who escaped the Taliban and fled on a small boat to Australia in 2001. When the boat was sinking, they were rescued by Norwegian container ship the ‘MV Tampa’. The refugees were refused entry to Australia and sent to Nauru Island. Eventually they were granted entry to Aotearoa New Zealand, where they settled in Mangere, Auckland. This film traces the circumstances that led to their arrival in Aotearoa New Zealand and the reunion process to reconnect with their family members as they too are resettled in the country.

Locations shown: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Nauru Island, Australia, and Aotearoa New Zealand.
