NZ RAILWAY OPERATING COY IN THE DESERT

Noel Palmer of the NZBU describes the activities of the New Zealand
construction and maintenance section of the railway operating company.

The various sections of the New Zealand railway operating company were
recruited and sent into training in July 1939. The Construction and
maintenance section, after arriving in the Middle East, built emergency
sidings and carried out normal line maintenance. At the time of
recording the section was doing the job they really feel they came to
do, building a vital railway supply line.
