1. The Government's being accused of profiteering on Māori leasehold land by using discriminatory legislation. The accusation comes from the Wellington Tenths Trust which says the Government should either give up the leases on Māori land - or pay a fair rent.

2. As the interpretation and implementation of the Treaty of Waitangi gathers pace in New Zealand, opposition MP Ralp Maxwell has called for a new treaty between the Government and the Māori people.
