Canterbury Roundabout No 56.

Part 1: Announcer Jim Reid interviews Coral Cummins and Martin Winiata on their return from Korea. They toured Korea with the New Zealand Kiwi Concert Party. Coral Cummins talks about the flight to Korea which was via Japan. They stayed at the Japanese air base used by kamikaze pilots during World War II. She describes the kamikaze pilots' treatment on the island and the emotions she felt being there.
Martin Winiata describes being escorted by Commander Parks and visiting Tokyo. He says the standard of music is very high in Tokyo, although they copy a lot of western artists. A disc he brought back, "The Japanese Rumba" is played. They spent a week in Kure, Japan, doing shows. Coral describes the colourful shops in Tokyo and fashions.

Part 2 - Continuation of interview with Coral Cummins and Martin Winiata. They talk about living conditions in Korea, and a travelling show that they have been putting on with the help of local people while travelling through the country.

Part 3 - Mr Thomas Langford and Mr Steel from the Christchurch City Council talk about public relations. Mr Langford talks about the role of public relations in shaping businesses and offering a service of Christchurch citizens. Mr Steel talks about Christchurch housing developments, the advice people have sought and the aim to be the best planned city. Mr Langford talks about the City Beautification Committee, the council’s publicity efforts and the response they’ve had from people wishing to immigrate. He also talks about welfare for Christchurch’s aged population.
