The French government has released a report into the dangers of nuclear testing at Mururoa atoll. John Starr reports from Paris and interviews one of the report's authors, volcanologist Haroun Tazieff. He says it is unlikely that the radiation released from the tests poses any dangers to New Zealand and Australia.

Greenpeace spokeswoman Elaine Shaw, disagrees with the report. She says in 1981 there were tropical cyclones which washed radioactive material into the sea.

Prime Minister Robert Muldoon says the French government told him it expects to end testing of nuclear weapons at Mururoa within the next decade.
