Spectrum was a long-running weekly radio documentary series which captured the essence of New Zealand from 1972 to 2016. Alwyn Owen and Jack Perkins produced the series for many years, creating a valuable library of New Zealand oral history.

A portrait of one of South Westland's best known figures; roadman, ranger and solitary Dan Greaney.

Dan describes growing up in post-goldrush Hokitika and tells of his time working as a morse-code operator for the Post Office. He relates stories of living through the Depression and working at Jacksons Bay and on the Milford Track.

He was the sole resident of Jacksons Bay for seven years and describes a sense of violation when the road opened up the bay.
