A weekly highlights programme broadcast nationwide on Saturday mornings on Newstalk ZB. Highlights are drawn from the Farming Show – a daily magazine-style programme broadcast 12pm - 1pm. The programme contains interviewees and regular commentators talking about farming and agribusiness in New Zealand. The programme began broadcasting in 1994. In this recording it is preceded by a news and sports bulletin, and weather forecast. The following rundown is sourced from the Farming Show website:
1. Damien O’Connor: Labour’s Primary Industry spokesman comments on Fonterra, TAF, Winston and the Queensland Fruit Fly.
2. Jacqueline Rowarth, a professor of agri-business at Waikato University, questions Fonterra’s performance and that of the Shareholders’ Council.
3. New Zealand First leader Winston Peters puts the wrongs of the world to right, as only he can!
4. Next week (April 13-19) is World Iron Awareness Week. We ask Beef+Lamb NZ’s Nutrition Manager Fiona Greig why red meat is the best source of dietary iron?
5. Joe Wheeler and Ryan Crotty: courtesy of Tru-Test our hard-case Highlander heads into Crusaders territory to talk beards, sledging and vege gardens.
6. Jen Rogan, Rabobank’s Business Management Programs Coordinator, tells farmers how they can apply to be a part of this year’s Executive Development and Farm Managers programs.
