He Hānuere - Ringatū Sacrament:
At a modest, simple marae between Ōhope and Ōpōtiki stands Wainui, known in Ringatū circles as 'Te Kanohi O Te Motu' or 'The Eye of the Land'. The first of January is one of the Church's seasonal festivals. It was at Wainui that Te Kooti, founder of the Rinagtu Church, died ten years after his pardon by government at Ōtewā near Te Kūiti.
This programme featuers Wīrangi (Charles) Pērā , Lovey Pooiwi, Taihākoa Tūtakangāhau Tana, and Arihia Turipa. They discuss the concept of Ringatū , its founder Te Kooti, and the future of the church and where it is heading in terms of unification.
There are four occasions when Ringatū mark the seasonal changes, known as Ngā Pou O Te Tau:
- First of January
- First of June (Huamata)
- First of July
- First of November (Pure)
