He is encouraging Māori parents to sit School Certificate by attending night school classes through their local high school.

He talks about the success of Robert Mahuta in getting School Certificate as an adult student. Publicity around his success has inspired many other adults Māori to go back to school to get their qualifications.

He talks about the low level of Māori at secondary school prior to World War II, compared to today. He discusses adult Māori students who are doing well at university - maturity helps a lot he feels.

He discusses the problems facing Māori parents who don't know how to support their children through secondary school, if they did not attend themselves.
