Part 1. Tawehi Wilson, an elder of the Māhaki and Tā Manuhiri hapū as well as a Minister in the Ringatū hāhi, speaks [in te reo Māori] at a hui that was convened at Muriwai to celebrate the memory of Te Kooti-a-Rikirangi who was the founder of the Ringatū Hāhi.
Tawehi Wilson speaks about the life of life Te Kooti, whō was born in the Gisborne area in 1874. He was baptised into the Anglican faith, married into the Catholic faith and founded the Ringatū faith. He speaks about Te Kooti being sent into exile and also his return from Wharekauri / Chatham Islands. Several people that Tawehi Wilson mentions are Hinehou and Te Ika Rēhi (Te Ikarihi) parents of Toi Roa (Toiroa Ikarihi) who was a prophet, Hēmi Waaka, Tā Kerekere, Hāmi Pītiti and Ngākohu Pērā. He also mentions that Te Kooti is the Māori.
