Many people from all over the North Island of New Zealand gather on the shores of Lake Rotoiti for the opening of Te Rangiunuora wharenui.

Commentary is given of the proceedings, and a description of the wharenui by Alf Sanft. Speakers include Sam Emery, Kepa Ehau and the Honourable Sir Walter Nash.

Alf Sanft notes the kawa ceremony was performed this morning by the Waikato people.

Wero/Karanga/Haka pōwhiri to the official party, which is led by the Prime Minister Mr Walter Nash who, is accompanied by Kepa Ehau and mokopuna Mereana Mihikiteao Emery. This is followed by a speech by Prime Minister Mr Walter Nash.

The dedication of the flag was given by Father Lowe. The official opening was done by Mr Walter Nash, and again the dedication by Father Lowe to the memory of Mrs Emery and their ancestor Te Rangiunuora.

Members of the Kiingitanga led by Princess Piki, followed behind the Prime Minister into the meeting house.
