NZ at Convent Garden.

On the evening of Sunday, 8 July 1990 more than twoo thousand people were
presented at the Royal Opera House, Convent Garden for a Gala Concert,
featuring 12 New Zealand vocal soloists including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Malvina
Major, Rhona Fraser, Donald Mcintyre, Barry Mora, Richard Greagher and Rodney
Macann.

There were 3 New Zealand conductors, William Southgate, Nicholas Braithwaite and
John Matheson, and organist Gillian Weir.

Promoted by the Waitangi Foundation set up the UK/New Zealand 1990 Committee,
the Gala was held in the presence of the Foundations's Patron, Her Royal Highness
the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

Hēnare te Ua was at Convent Garden and produced a two part series of programmes
especially for National Radio.
