Te Heikoko Mataira, Katerina
STEWART, Bruce

Katerina Mataira talks to Bruce Stewart about his marae "Tapu te Ranga"
which is run on a co-operative basis for the dispossessed Māori youth of Wellington.

Bruce tells how he came to build the marae and the development of the young people that were attracted to the scheme he implemented. Bruce himself was once an inmate, and many of the young people involved have also been in borstals and prisons.

He tells how the marae managed to eventually become self sufficient even though this has taken many years.
