- Community and continuing Educators -
New Zealanders in general have held a passing interest that Māori traditional history has a valid place in the way we see ouselves as people of this land.
A weekend wananga was organised to bring together community and educators to Te Takina Marae in Rotorua. The conference looked broadly at the growing needs for second chance education and vocation it was also an opportunity to experience the vast social and spiritual resources of the marae. Those that attended the hui came from diverse backgrounds.
When the Minister of Education Mr. Merv Wellington arrived he was accorded the tradional welcome by Te Takina kaumatua Stanley Tetekura Newton.
