The venue for the "Ngā Puna Waihanga" conference was Rātana Pā in Whanganui (NZ Māori and Artist & Writers annual hui).

One of the workshops that attracted much attention during the hui was the one devoted tō making the tradional Māori instruments was the "kōauau ".

- Kaikōrero: Ivan Ehau was the convenor of this workshop and spoke about the making and use of the kōauau

- Joe Malcom plays the kōauau (E pā tō hau).
