The mood for tribal self determination is something that has been evident among many tribes throughout New Zealand, and Ngāti Porou is no exception.

At a hui at Ngāti Porou's Ngata College, approval was given for the setting up of "Te Runanga o Ngāti Porou", which will look at projects of economic benefit to Ngāti Porou. Since that hui in August, Ngāti Oneone, Ngāti Konohi and Te Aitanga a Hauiti have held a separate hui to set up their own runanga, Te Runanga o Paikea.

Kaikōrero: Apirana Mahuika speaks about factual concerns he has in the setting up of the Runanga o Paikea and confusion that could arise and other Issues.

Health Issues: Alice Routamin from Opotoki speaks about their health issues and the service they provide.
