Korimako Speech Contest, this competition was set up by the late Sir Bernard Fergusson for Māori Secondary Schools. He wanted the competition to encourage and create fluency in the English language by Māori students, but importantly the contest is open to all students.

1989 saw Wairarapa College hosting this event.
