Te Tai Tokerau Marae ceremonies - Waitangi Day 1974.

Preparations for the New Zealand (Waitangi) Day celebrations were convened by the Waitangi Trust Board, the Tai Tokerau organising committee, and the Waitangi Marae committee. This hui was called to ensure that all the proper Māori rituals and tikanga were to be observed correctly.
Tai Tokerau practise their pōwhiri and waiata-a-ringa, as well as other practises at other areas of the marae, not forgetting their taha wairua.

Whaikōrero: Pāraone Muriwai on the arrival of the Minister of Māori Affairs, Matiu Rata.

After his speech he presented a kahu kiwi/korowai to the Minister and his wife, on behalf of the Tai Tokerau people.
