PAUL MOON - "MATARIKI": Historian, prolific author and Head of Māori Studies at AUT, talks with Dale about Matariki and its history. Paul tells how the Matariki thinking has changed over the years with regular events involving death that seemed to happen during this time of the year.
Paul says the term was derived from the words Mata-a-riki. Mata, meaning eyes and riki, meaning small, or the eyes of Ariki, meaning the eyes of a High ranking or Chiefly person.

GLEN MACKAY: Māori Responsiveness Strategy Advisor to the New Zealand Police, talks with Dale about the new initiative established by the Police by liaising with Te Wananga O Aotearoa in Mangere, with Training Courses aimed at helping to educate and identify potential Police recruits especially amongst Māori and Pacific Islanders.
