Blumsky, John (b.1928, d.2013), Reporter

Four reports on the Mount Erebus air crash by Radio New Zealand broadcaster John Blumsky. He was the only broadcast journalist sent to Antarctica to cover the story of the crash for the world media. The reports, which were telephoned from the ice, include news on body recovery, salvage operations, strain at Scott Base, and a description of the crash scene. They were broadcast in December 1979.

This is followed by coverage of Blumsky receiving a 1979 Mobil Radio Award for his coverage of the disaster.
