Auckland City Council has voted against giving funding for the traffic control and clean-up of the popular Hero parade, organised by the gay and lesbian community. Principal opponents on Council include Les Mills, Auckland mayor, David Hay, deputy mayor, and Phil Raffills, Councillor. The Hero organisers are calling their opposition homophobia and are making a complaint against Les Mills to the Human Rights Commission.
