A documentary about a group of 14 and 15 year old Maori boys who left their home of Wairoa in the late 1950s and early 1960s to start a new life and learn a trade in the predominantly pakeha city of Christchurch. These men are now in their 50s and tell how the experience changed them and made them feel special, and how on visits back to Wairoa they felt and looked different from their siblings and had lost their ability to speak Te Reo Maori.
