[WELLINGTON FREE AMBULANCE 1930]

A fundraising appeal to raise money for the Wellington Free Ambulance Trust.

The first half of the film is a re-enactment, demonstrating the type of situation where an ambulance service is needed. A passer-by uses a public telephone to request an ambulance to help a man who has collapsed on a Miramar street. An ambulance car is seen leaving the Wellington Free Ambulance buildings (which was later to become the Wellington Rowing Club house).

In the second half of the film Sir Charles Norwood (former Mayor of Wellington and founder of the Wellington Free Ambulance Service) appeals to all New Zealanders to donate money to improve the ambulance facilities. Since its establishment two and a half years previously the Ambulance Service has provided free emergency transport to the hospital for patients within a 50 mile radius of the hospital.

Sir Charles Norwood acknowledges Filmcraft studios assistance in producing the film. Film finishes abruptly.
