Crowd of 21,000 watches team walk on to the field. Weather and ground conditions are good. The newly completely Rugby Park was officially opened for this match. Teams are led on to the field. SA kick off. Bastard ( SA ) scores the opening try followed by a penalty kick by a penalty kick from Turner (SA). Taranaki are attacking strongly by the SA line when SA break away and score a magnificent try by winger Williams (although the commentator wrongly identifies him as Turner). Smith then scores for Taranaki in the left hand corner after a break by Sullivan .
Bester almost scores for SA before Turner (SA) intercepts a Sullivan pass and races away to score another try for SA.
