Part One: Promotional film for the Forestry industry of New Zealand. Various central North Island tree lined hills.
Intertitle: “This can rightly be claimed to be a complete National Industry - with its roots in the soil and its products in the hands of the Public.” More footage of the hills and pine trees with intertitles explaining the history and processes of the forestry industry. A tractor grading the metal roads. A man on a fire watch-tower looking out over the forest through binoculars. Elevated view of the forest. A man scarfs the trees with an axe. Trees are felled and towed out by a bulldozer and cut into manageable lengths. These are transported to Pinedale where they are removed from trucks and readied for transport to Penrose by train. Aerial view of Penrose Mill. Living quarters and office space at the mill. Logs unloaded by crane. Wood is cut by rotary saw then conveyed to the seasoning yard.

Part Two: Shows the process of converting pine into pinex. Sheets are passed through dryer. Mixing of Chemicals by technicians. Tests on the product for strength. Finished product moves along conveyor belt where it subsequently cut, packaged and stacked in a warehouse. A different type of board is placed into a hydraulic press for hardening. Product is shipped out and placed on a boat for export. Moulding of pinex for tiles, acoustic tiles and refrigerator blocks. Breakdown of the expenditures involved to create the product.
