SPRIRT OF PELORUS JACK was a song from sometime Human Instinct band member John Donoghue (aka Timberjack Donoghue). With its strong ecology theme it was representative of its era and was included on a compilation of New Zealand songs to commemorate the Commonwealth Games of that year.

Sunrise at the beach, and men, carrying a hearse, are walking to the sea. Mourners follow and lead mourner is singing and playing acoustic guitar. Hearse is opened and contents, rubbish, is tipped into the sea.
