This item is part of the Tauranga Libraries Norman Blackie Collection. Norman Blackie (1899-1993) was a keen amateur filmmaker who captured civic events around Tauranga using a modified Keystone Model A7 16mm camera.

This actuality starts with a flick through of a sketch album depicting the history of Tauranga city.
Footage follows of scenes around Tauranga township, including: the 100th commemoration of the Battle of Pukehinahina; aerial views of Mauao Mount Maunganui and wharves; harvesting a citrus orchard; counting imperial money; and scenes at the airport featuring planes (NAC JET-PROP FRIENDSHIP and NAC SKYLINER DC3 ZK-AYL).
Further footage shows views of houses in Tauranga and of people enjoying the ocean and the beach; people visiting Marineland at the Mount; dolphins and seals swimming and being fed; miniature train ride; public gardens and bowls at Robbins Park; opening of the new court house; and the Historical Society gathering in gardens enjoying refreshments.
