There has been an increase in reported cases of child abuse. Peter Abernethy speaks to University of Canterbury sociologist, Greg Newbold. National's Minister of Social Welfare, Jenny Shipley, has said the rise in reported child abuse has nothing to do with economic problems but may be partly caused by the growing number of Pacific Islanders in New Zealand.
Live material from Dr Fele Nokise, a Samoan Presbytarian Minister working with Pacific Island men for non-violence. Dr Nokise criticises Ms Shipley's comments. Kim Hill speaks to Winnie Laban, a Samoan family therapist. Interview with Ms Shipley.
