Spencer, Vivian, Commentator

Talk by Vivian Spencer, commentator of the NZ Mobile Broadcasting Unit, "Conditions Past andPresent."

"Improvements have been made since the main body of troops arrived
in New Caledonia. At first conditions were uncomfortable, and when the
rains came there was water and mud everywhere. Bridges were washed away
and pests were prolific. Now tents are raised up, there are gravel floors
in tents and mess houses and the cook houses are concrete floored.
Bridges are solidly built and there are well metalled roads. Training
is in full swing."
