BOTTING, Howard

A talk by Howard Botting "A Day Out Of Camp":-

"One day we hiked inland to the central mountain range. The New
Caledonian vegetation varied as we left the lowlands and we saw trees
similar to those in New Zealand eg manukas, pines, tree fern and kauri.
Near the top there were thousands of orchids. We saw an old native
burial ground. On the way down we passed through a native village and we
were given coconuts and pineapples".
