Talk "An Infantry Platoon Sergeant in the Nissan Operation" by Sgt. H.L.
Nelson of Whangarei.

"The day after the Roman Catholic mission was captured I received orders
to take a small patrol across the Island to the south coast to locate
enemy in that area. We found five Japanese and went back to report. We
returned with a strong patrol led by Lieutenant Bob Clouston of Blenheim
and when it was discovered that there were more Japanese than we
expected, we were joined by other units. The resulting action resulted
in the death of over 60 Japanese".
