The long-running Clyde dam strike is over. Construction workers at the site met this afternoon and voted overwhelmingly to accept a plan, thrashed out at an all-night meeting earlier in the week. The settlement culminates a week of major developments in the 17 weeklong dispute.

The sale of Coalcorp and negotiations with Māori tribes, has shown up the urgent need for the current government review of all resource management legislation. Both the Tainui and Ngai Tahu Trust Boards want the issue of ownership of the coal resource to be worked out before any sale.
